About Us
Jim and Kristy Brown both grew up in the
Houlton area. Both of their families were
involved in family businesses and have
several connections to the development.
Jim’s family purchased a Long Term Care
facility within a mile of “Country Fields”
where Jim grew up. Since then Jim has been
involved with long term care and is a
principle in the business;
Madigan Estates. He has started several
of his own ventures including a Medicare
Certified Home Care Agency, which Kristy and
Jim founded and continue to work in. He is
also a general, electrical, and excavation
contractor in connection with Nelson’s
Construction. Jim is involved in
Rotary, third-generation firefighter
with the
volunteer fire department, many local
events such as our annual winter carnival,
Moosestompers many professional
organizations and has served as Chair of the
Board of Budget review for many years along
with several other community committees. He
attended Houlton Schools and also the
University of Maine and received a degree in
Business Management.
Kristy grew up on a farm in Littleton,
just North of Houlton. Her father, Gary, was
a potato farmer that grew potatoes on
several area farms including the area now
known as the “Country Fields”. Gary farmed
the land for several years after Cecil Benn,
Kristy’s grandfather, retired from farming.
Both Kristy and Jim worked many days picking
potatoes, driving farm equipment, and
spending time with Gary and Cecil.
Kristy attended the University of Maine
and received a Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
She worked for several years at Houlton
Regional Hospital until joining Jim at the
Nursing Facility and soon after they
developed the Home Care Agency. She is the
Director of Nursing for the agency and
serves as a consultant to the Nursing
Facility. She is very well respected by her
peers throughout the industry.
Kristy’s Mother Joann “Benn” Wilson was
born and raised on the farm and spent many
days working around the farm and enjoying
the piece and quiet.
Kristy and Jim are high school sweet
hearts; they met and were instantly in love.
They enjoy living in the area, enjoy the
outdoors, and love spending time with their
families. They have two beautiful children,
Jamie and Dana that enjoy the outdoors and
country living just as their parents.
Jim and Kristy live within sight of the
farm in a log home and enjoy all the
activities that country living has to offer,
with the convenience of living within town.
There aren’t many days that we don’t see
some type of wildlife, walk on one of the
many trails, cross-country ski, fish in our
stocked trout pond, snowmobile, ATV, play
with our children without worrying about
crime or traffic. |
